Misfits Of Ugly Hollywood — Willowood Demos

A refreshing garage rock EP with bright pop overtones, singing guitar hooks and a heavy backbone.

Misfits Of Ugly Hollywood's Willowood Demos EP oozes a refreshing brand of garage rock swagger. Guitar hooks sing right alongside the vocal choruses, percussion lays down a heavy backbone, and a bright pop overtone sits on top of all of it.

The EP is alive and brisk — the band sounds like they tracked these together in a room, and the energy is intact. There's a real fondness for classic garage rock in the writing, but never at the expense of the song.

A short, lively, fun record from a band that clearly enjoys what they do.

On repeat it only gets better — the arrangement keeps revealing little choices that don't announce themselves the first time through, and that's usually the mark of writing that was built to last rather than chase a moment.
